Vinyl Album Package Redesign

This project entailed choosing an existing album, and creating a completely new vinyl album package that functions as a visual system focusing on typography.

I chose to redesign the album Who Cares? by Rex Orange County with a focus on translating the album’s emotional contrast into a visual system. Although the music feels upbeat and energetic, the lyrics reveal a more reflective and melancholy tone beneath the surface.

To represent that tension, I used high contrast, a dark black background, and vibrant color blends. The final redesign includes updated cover art, sleeve layouts, and vinyl labeling that work together as a bold and cohesive package.

This project also pushed me creatively and technically. While developing the visual direction, I experimented with new techniques in Photoshop, especially using gradients in more intentional ways to create depth, mood, and contrast throughout the package. Stepping outside of my comfort zone helped me become more confident in making bolder design choices and trusting a more expressive style.
