Plate My Mood

UI/UX Prototype

Plate My Mood. Where feeling meets food.

Plate My Mood is a mobile recipe app that takes the stress out of mealtime by helping users dish up recipes that match how they’re feeling. The app invites users to choose their energy level, mood, and dietary preferences, then serves up recipes suited to the moment. Users can swipe through meal options and quickly decide what hits the spot, saving favorites or passing on anything that doesn’t sound appetizing. Through mood-based decision-making, Plate My Mood makes cooking feel less draining and a lot more digestible.

To begin my process of creating my prototype, I researched similar apps to what I wanted to create. This allowed me to see what I both like and dislike about a food-based app like I was creating.

MatchMyMeal

MatchMyMeal is an app where you can swipe through meals and match them to preferences like how much time you have and ingredients you own.

I implemented a similar method of looking through recipes where you like or decline the choices, but the recipes are filtered based on different preferences.

MoodMeals

MoodMeals is a Google Play app to find recipes based on your current mood. Based on your emotions it matches you with one full recipe.

The overarching idea is what my app is, but Plate My Mood is more image based and personalized to the user. It also gives multiple recipe options for each mood.

Food For Mood

Food for Mood is an app that pairs your mental-wellbeing to healthy food choices. It provides dietary insights, nutrition tips tailored to your specific needs, food and activities chosen for you.

I will focus on the aspect of this app that takes your mood and gives suggestions. Rather than giving nutritional advice though, mine will give you recipes for entire meals based on your mood/emotions.

Before mapping out my app, I used AI to create mock personas of users to determine functions I should integrate into the app.

I used chatGPT to create these fictional personas.
